Is pest control safe around children and pets?
Product labels carry legally binding directions covering application, ventilation and re-entry, and a professional is required to follow them. Can I cancel a pest control contract?

Beyond that window it depends on your contract - many include a termination fee, which is exactly why the cancellation terms should be read before signing rather than after.
Do I have to leave the house during treatment?
For most routine interior treatments the rule is set by the product label, which is federal law - commonly re-entry once treated surfaces are dry.
